Discussions on the Future of European Humanities
Last week, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń hosted Professor Aliyah Morgenstern, Vice President for European Cooperation at Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris. She met with dr. habil. Adam Kola, NCU Prof. and Vice-Rector for Research. The main goal of the meeting was to strengthen the cooperation between the two universities within the YUFE alliance (Young Universities for the Future of Europe).
Sorbonne Nouvelle, renowned for its strong humanities profile and active participation in international projects, has long been one of the NCU's key partners in the YUFE. During the visit, discussions were held with the Faculty of Humanities leadership – Vice-Deans Prof. Andrzej Moroz and Professor Marzena Cyzman-Eid, as well as Prof. Piotr Sadkowski - and with representatives of various institutes (Prof. Dariusz Brzostek, Prof. Bartosz Awianowicz, Prof. Michał Głuszkowski), academic staff (dr. Joanna Augustyn), and students.

The talks focused on opportunities to intensify academic and student exchange, implement joint research projects – particularly within European programs – and explore the publication potential arising from collaboration. The meeting highlighted the importance of building lasting relationships between universities, which not only strengthens bilateral ties but also contributes to the development of European humanities and social sciences at the international level.
Joint initiatives within the YUFE are becoming a platform where science transcends borders and academic values gain a new, more visible, European dimension.
