Have a Seat. It’s "Your Move" Now
A happening in front of the student houses in Bielany marked the launch of the "Your Move" campaign, dedicated to addiction prevention and combating loneliness. As part of the initiative, the first "meetup-bench" was installed at the Collegium Humanisticum to encourage students to talk and seek support.
The "Your Move" campaign, organised by the University Centre for Support and Personal Development, highlights issues relating to both substance abuse and addictive behaviours, including excessive use of social media. Its aim is to encourage students to pause, reflect on their own habits and be open to connecting with others.
The centrepiece of the initiative is a specially marked "meet-up" bench. QR codes on the bench link to information about the campaign and allow users to book an appointment with a specialist. The organisers emphasise that online interactions cannot replace face-to-face contact, and that a conversation can be the first step towards coping with loneliness, emotional difficulties or addiction. A special box has also been placed next to the bench, into which students can anonymously drop descriptions of the issues they face, along with suggestions for actions that could be taken at the level of their degree programme, faculty or the entire university. The feedback collected is intended to help better identify the needs of the academic community.
The "meet-up" bench will be available at the Collegium Humanisticum until 9 June. It will then be moved to Lwowska 1, home to the Faculty of Biological and Veterinary Sciences, the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management, and the Institute of Pedagogical Sciences. It will remain there until June16th.
The organisers are also encouraging faculty self-governments and vice-deans for student affairs to take charge of the 'meet-up' bench during the 2026/2027 academic year and to organise initiatives around it aimed at preventing addiction and combating loneliness.
