Letter from NCU Rector at the end of the term
Ladies and Gentlemen,
ending my term as Rector of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, I would like to sincerely thank all members of our community for your cooperation and joint activities undertaken for the development of the University. I also do this on behalf of my closest co-workers – Vice-Rectors.
The expiring term of the university authorities was a time of implementation of the Excellence Initiative - Research University project and fulfilment of the objectives of the new development strategy. Their goal was to strengthen the position of our University as a research centre of European importance, successfully coping with the international scientific environment, offering students and doctoral students the highest level of education, and providing employees with the expected conditions of employment, scientific and professional development. Fulfilling these ambitious goals was not easy under the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic, in the face of a serious international threat related to the Russian aggression against Ukraine and a significant increase in the cost of operation of Polish universities. However, I and my colleagues have always been able to count on excellent cooperation with the University community, willingness to jointly seek solutions and prepare new initiatives. I sincerely thank you for this!
Leading Nicolaus Copernicus University is a great honour. It is not only about its reputation and position as one of the best universities in Poland, but, above all, about the wonderful group of people who make up this unique Community: employees, doctoral students and students. I will keep these years forever in my memory, thinking with gratitude and emotion of the path we have walked together. On behalf of myself and the Vice-Rectors, I wish you satisfaction with your achievements and pride in the position that, thanks to your work, efforts and commitment, our University has.
With best regards,
NCU Rector
