
Mission Japan at NCU
The NCU Department of Promotion and Communication invites the university community to take part in the game Mission Japan at NCU. The event is organised in connection with Poland's participation in the World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, and a project held by Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, in cooperation with the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.
Many challenges await you, along with lots of fun, and at the end, prizes such as hoodies from the limited Harmony of Cooperation collection – a line promoting the scientific symposium at Kobe University, sets of university gadgets, and most importantly – knowledge about Japanese Studies at NCU.
The game features 20 main prizes and 10 sets of university gadgets. The winners will be the participants who collect the most points in the game.

The game “Mission Japan at NCU" begins on October 6, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. From that moment, starter cards will be available at the NCU Department of Promotion and Communication (Reja 25). Cards can be collected until October 17, on weekdays (Monday–Friday), from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Participants have until October 17 at 3:00 p.m. to complete the tasks and submit their cards to the Promotion and Communication Department (Reja 25).
For each completed task, participants will receive between 0–5 points. Creative tasks will be evaluated by a three-person jury: Urszula Sęczyk-Bonczkowska from the NCU Department of Promotion and Communication (Promotion Section), Michał Bomastyk, and Bartosz Zdunowski from the Research and Project Support Unit (IDUB Programme Section).
To win a main prize, participants must rank among the top 20 scorers. Those ranked 21-30 will receive a set of university gadgets.
Results will be announced on October 22, 2025. Winners will receive an email with details about their prize and how to collect it.
In connection with Poland's participation in the World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, in cooperation with the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, is implementing a project funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange titled “Harmony of Heritage and Innovation: Polish-Japanese cooperation in the field of urban studies and Japanese studies".
On April 23–25, 2025, Kobe University hosted an international scientific event entitled “Harmony of Cooperation." The three-day symposium featured numerous presentations and discussions on cultural heritage, Japanese culture, research and teaching, as well as strategic cooperation between Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, the City of Toruń, and partner Kobe University.
Experts specializing in various fields took part – from Japanese Studies and Urban Studies to ecological retrofitting of historic buildings. Among those present were dr hab. Adam Kola, prof. UMK, Vice-Rector for Research, First Vice-Rector and dr hab. Magdalena Barwiołek, prof. UMK, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation.
The symposium was held as part of Poland's participation in the World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, during Polish Science Week.
