This year's season will run until the end of November, and next year we'll be launching on March, 1st" says Ireneusz Makowski, director of the City Road Management in Toruń. “Nextbike Polska is responsible for the Toruń City Bike system. The contract with them has been signed for three seasons, until 2028."

The system operates on a convenient 'scan & ride' model, allowing you to hire a bike in a matter of seconds – directly via the app. The new bikes are equipped with 4G technology and a smart O-lock with a GPS module, fitted to the rear wheel.

– City bikes remain one of the cornerstones of sustainable transport today – emphasises Tomasz Wojtkiewicz, President of the Management Board of Nextbike Polska. – It is a solution that genuinely reduces congestion on city streets and makes daily journeys easier for residents. Our research shows that over 32 per cent of residents in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship indicate public bicycles as the most practical means of getting to work, school or university quickly.

To start using the Toruń City Bike scheme, simply download the app, register an account and top it up with 20 PLN. The user then scans the QR code on the bike – the lock opens automatically and you're ready to set off. Ending your ride is just as simple. You can leave the bike at any TRM station or in a designated usage zone, and the hire ends once you lock the O-lock on the rear wheel.

The first 15 minutes of travel will cost 1 PLN, from the 16th to the 60th minute – 2 PLN, from the 61st to the 120th minute – 4 PLN, from the 121st to the 180th minute – 6 PLN, and each subsequent hour – 7 PLN. For those planning an active tour of the city, the “24-hour Tourist Fare" is available for 17 PLN.
