Orientation week
115 students from 36 countries are starting their adventure at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń in the second semester of the 2022/2023 academic year under the Erasmus+ programme. The Department of International Partnerships and Educational Mobility has organised an Orientation Week for them.
The Orientation Week is an event for people from abroad who have decided to study at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. The programme is full of lectures and intercultural workshops. During the week-long meetings, students gain practical knowledge about the functioning of the university, the rules of studying in Poland and life in Toruń. It is also an opportunity to integrate different, often very diverse cultures.
The Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń has been chosen by students from all over the world. The most numerous representation is made up of 36 Turkish nationals, There are also 16 students from Ukraine and other students come from Asia and Africa. Nigeria, Pakistan, Uganda, Japan, the Philippines, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Vietnam are just a few of the countries whose nationals come to Toruń for educational purposes.
The Orientation Week began on 28 February. The meeting at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management featured lectures by, among others, dr habil. Dominik Antonowicz, NCU Prof.and dr Michał Targowski. In the days to come, many other activities are planned for the students, such as a short course in Polish, intercultural and psychological workshops and integration meetings. All events will be held in small groups, giving participants a chance to get to know each other better. The Toruń Erasmus Student Network has made sure that participants are well acquainted with the Toruń campus.
The international students, by courtesy of the Toruń City Hall, will also have the opportunity to explore the Old Town of Toruń with professional guides. The Orientation Week will end on 7 March with meetings with Erasmus+ faculty mobility coordinators.
