Piernikalia student festival in a fairytale atmosphere

Fairy tales, fables and legends are the leitmotif of this year's Piernikalia, which began on 7 May. Many outdoor attractions await enthusiasts of good fun, and among the stars on the music stage will be Krzysztof Zalewski, Happysad, Guzior and Luxtorpeda.

The annual student festival will kick off with an evening of board games and karaoke at the ' Kotłownia' Student Activity Centre. On 7 May at 7pm, the organisers invite you to a gathering full of laughter, competition and unforgettable experiences. A day later, the open-air cinema at the "Wembley" pitch will feature two films: "Shrek 2" and "How to Train Your Dragon?". Start at 8.30 pm.

Ahead of this weekend's party, you can get into the dancing mood at the Laba. On 9 May, from 8 pm onwards, DJ Mike G, P51 and PSZUK will take over the controls of the console and guarantee a good time with the biggest hits. Admission is free for all students.

The integration of the Bydgoszcz and Toruń campuses will be fostered by a unique outdoor game. Until 4 May, student teams from the NCU Collegium Medicum can register their participation in a game that involves hitchhiking from Bydgoszcz to Toruń as quickly as possible. Along the way, participants will have tasks to perform. The team that arrives the fastest on 9 May can count on a fairytale prize. Applications will be accepted until 4 May at 23:59.

The Piernikalia student festival will officially open with a traditional parade, which will start on 10 May at 5 p.m. from the Nicolaus Copernicus monument. The parade, which will be attended by students dressed in accordance with the theme of the event, will go through the streets of Toruń from the Old Town to the university campus.

The student festival also includes musical performances in the concert zone. On 10 May, Lanberry, Zalewski and Guzior will perform on stage. On the following day, Luxtorpeda, Łydka Grubasa, Happysad and Wielki Piorunów na Raz will perform in front of the audience. Both days will open with concerts by student bands. There are tickets for the event, which can be purchased at biletomat.pl. To make it easier for everyone to leave the concert area freely, tickets will be exchanged for wristbands.

For those hungry for sporting events, there will be the traditional rivalries, including a mud match, flankers and a beer run. There will also be themed events, including the 'Flying Carpet', 'The Mongrel in Love' and 'Snow White's Apples'. All event ideas are described on the event page. A city game prepared by the organisers for all adventurers will also be quite a challenge. All you need to do is bring a group of friends and come to the Student Self Government office in DS 9 on 9 May between 15:00 and 18:00 to pick up a map and set off on an extraordinary journey. On 10 and 11 May, the Student Self-Government has prepared a Zone with Culture at three locations, where workshops to stimulate creativity and team-building meetings will take place. On Friday at 11:00 a.m., a dance workshop will begin at the Student Activity Centre, during which everyone will be able to get their bodies moving and feel long-unused muscles. A decoupage workshop is planned for those who would like to learn how to repurpose and decorate unnecessary, damaged or broken things.

This will be an opportunity to give new life to clothes, accessories and other everyday items using DIY techniques. There will also be three sessions of workshops on personalising clothes using screen printing techniques. These will be activities for everyone, regardless of skill level, where everyone will be able to learn how to create a unique print on a T-shirt. The creative workshops in the ' Kotłownia' will end with a session of creative and imaginative activities. Participants will learn a variety of methods to help them develop their imagination, improve their concentration and support their creative thinking process.

On 11 May, the Copernican Integration Centre will host a yoga on grass workshop for everyone, regardless of their level. Several gingerbread decorating sessions are also planned, where you will be able to learn different techniques for decorating traditional Toruń cakes. " In Between Us Breaths" is an offer of relaxation workshops with the University's Centre for Support and Personal Development. It is a meeting for all those who would like to relax and embark on a journey into themselves and learn methods that will help them find balance in stressful situations. At 13:00, a workshop will begin where participants, using dry rubbish and objects collected nearby (e.g., stones, pinecones and leaves), will create a mobile sensory pathway.

Due to the limited number of places for the workshops described above, registration is mandatory.

In the Zone with Culture on the stage at DS9, to which Radio Sfera invites you, you will be able to join in morning gymnastics from 10:00. At 12:00 there will be a meeting with Toruń astronomer and publicist, Jerzy Rafalski, and at 14:00 the guest of the zone will be Jarosław Boberek, a well-known dubbing, film and theatre actor. The meeting will end with a concert entitled 'Sfera na pudłach', where Inner Sun Empire and Toruń Improvised Orchestra will perform.

On 11 May, the traditional Breakfast on the Grass will take place from 10:00 to 12:00 - this time in two locations: by Student House No. 9 and next to the “Kotłownia" Student Activity Centre.
