Strategic Dialogue with Würzburg

A delegation from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń took part in a two-day intensive strategic meeting at the University of Würzburg. The visit was another step in the development of cooperation between the universities, which has been ongoing for 16 years thanks to the Polish Historical Mission led by dr Renata Skowrońska.

The NCU was represented by: dr habil. Adam Kola NCU Prof, Vice-Rector for Science, together with dr habil. Iwona Sadowsk-Krawczenko, NCU Prof., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Collegium Medicum, prof. dr habil. Maciej Serowańcem, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration, dr Aranka Ignasiak-Szulc, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management, ks. prof. dr habil. Janusz Szulist from the Faculty of Theology, and dr Liliana Lewandowska, Deputy Director of the University Library in Toruń.

Special thanks were extended to the President of the University of Würzburg, Prof. Paul Pauli, and his team – Vice-Presidents Prof. Doris Fischer and Prof. Caroline Kisker, and dr. Uwe Klug, Chancellor – for their exceptional hospitality and inspiring discussions.

The two universities share a commitment to academic excellence, a strong position among European research universities and a similar operating context in their respective cities of Würzburg and Torun

The University of Würzburg is an institution with an impressive history and Nobel Prize winners. It is currently a dynamic centre for cutting-edge scientific research, with interdisciplinary clusters of excellence, modern laboratories and pioneering methods. The visit allowed the NCU delegation to visit research teams, faculties and the university hospital, clearly showing numerous areas of common interest and the potential for further cooperation.

Prof. Adam Kola emphasised that this is a strategic and long-term cooperation. Both universities share a commitment to scientific excellence, a strong position among European research universities and a similar context of functioning in their cities – Würzburg and Toruń. This is a solid foundation for future projects and joint development.
