In YUFE students are not just participants in courses, they are much more. Students are the co-designers of the YUFE Student Journey, which was clearly visible during the online Meet&Greet event that took place on Wednesday 24 March 2021.

41 YUFE Student Journey pioneers, gathered to meet each other, explore and discuss upcoming activities. During the Meet&Greet, the students had the opportunity to share their opinions, express their ideas and ask questions.

As Jagoda Frost, one of the students from Maastricht University stated:

Participation in the Meet&Greet was an amazing personal experience. Not only was I able to meet fellow students and staff from other YUFE Universities but I was also given the possibility to broaden my knowledge about different aspects and opportunities that YUFE has to offer. I truly enjoyed the possibility to visit different breakout rooms and to talk to representatives of participating universities. I hope to see more similar events in the future!

Helena Drmic from the University of Rijeka also thought that the Meet&Greet and future events to meet her fellow YUFE pioneers are a good idea: “enrolling in other universities can be a bit confusing and it might be easier if we could help each other in terms of these technical issues. It would also be interesting to meet other YUFE students and find out why each of us applied for the YUFE program."

In his welcoming speech, Professor Martin Paul, Chair of the YUFE Alliance and President of Maastricht University, stressed that the students' voice is essential in designing YUFE's vision of European University, and that the initiative can only evolve with their input.
