University Day
The awarding of the title of the Nicolaus Copernicus University doctor honoris causa to Professor Martin Kramer Professor will add splendour to the celebrations of the University Day, which will be held on 19 February. This year's celebrations will be held in a hybrid formula.
The University Day celebrations will begin at 10:15 a.m. with the laying of flowers at the Nicolaus Copernicus monument in the Old Town Square on the 549th anniversary of the birth of the patron of the University. From 11:00 the celebrations will continue in the NCU Aula. Due to the epidemic situation, only a small group of guests will be able to participate in the event; all those interested in this event will be able to follow the broadcast on the NCU TV website.
The awarding of the honoris causa doctorate to Prof. Martin Kramer of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen will be a special highlight.
The 'Ratio et Spes' scientific award will also be presented on that day. This year's laureate is Professor Matthew Hanley, author of works on public health, bioethics, religion and culture.
Traditionally, the event will be accompanied by the presentation of honours, medals and distinctions, both state and university, as well as the title of NCU Ambassador, awarded to the alumni with significant success in science, culture, art, politics or business, who promote the University in their daily activities.
On 19 February, during the ceremony in the NCU Aula, the diplomas of doctor habilitated will be conferred. Doctoral promotions will also take place, with the participation of representatives of individual disciplines who will take the oath on behalf of all doctorate holders.
