Open lecture at the Faculty of Chemistry

The Faculty of Chemistry invites you to a lecture entitled Graphene-wrapped zeolite membrane for rapid air separation: Superiority of intrinsic graphene oxide and control of 2D nanochannels, to be delivered by Prof. Hayato Otsuka from Shinshu University.

Prof. Otsuka is the recipient of numerous international honours, including awards from the Chemical Society of Japan and the prestigious ECO-TECH GRAND PRIX 2025 (KYOCERA award). He is affiliated with the Research Initiative for Supra-Materials (RISM). His presentation offers a unique opportunity to learn about the latest trends in Japanese nanotechnology and to discover ‘green’ methods for producing the materials of the future.

The lecture will take place on 22 April at noon in the Faculty of Chemistry library.

Abstract: Energy-friendly separation method has been requested to construct a sustainable society. We have developed an ultra-high-speed gas separation membrane called graphene-wrapped MFI zeolite membrane. The graphene-wrapped MFI zeolite membrane separates gas molecules via interfacial nanochannels between the zeolite crystal and the graphene sheet, exhibiting superior gas separation properties. Control of the surface property of unstable GO is an important factor to achieve the high separation performance.
