Run with a Book - 10th edition
An anniversary edition of the "Run with a Book" entitled "Gombrowicz's Gallop" will be held on 26th May. The name of the run refers to the works of Witold Gombrowicz, one of the most outstanding Polish writers of the 20th century, whose name has been announced for the year 2024 in Poland.
The "Run with a Book" is an open running event for the NCU community and supporters of our university. Its purpose is to promote physical activity and popularize reading. The event will include a main run, a relay race and an additional run called "Run Up Mom."
The year 2024 has been declared the Year of Gombrowicz to mark the 120th anniversary of the writer's birth. Thus, this year's "Run with a Book" refers to the author's life and works. The distance of the main run will be measured in gallops (a unit taken from Gombrowicz's "Operetka"). There will be 1,200 gallops, or 4.2 kilometers to run. The distance has been calculated as follows: 120 (the anniversary of the patron's birth) times 10 (the tenth edition of the run) times 3.5 meters (one gallop).
The event has an amateur character. There will be prizes not only for the fastest runners. In the "Z Gombrowiczem" classification, the result will be calculated using an algorithm that considers the route's time and the book's parameters. To participate in this classification, contestants need to run with a book authored by the patron of the run. Each mother with child/children who completes the additional run will receive a small gift.
The event is organized by the NCU Alumni Programme and the NCU Marathon Club.
Registrations will be open till 22nd May. More information
