University-Community Engagement for Staff: What’s in it for me?

YUFE invites university employees to an hour-long online training session entitled “University-Community Engagement for Staff: What’s in it for me?”, which will take place online on June 12 at 9:00 . Registration is required.

“University-Community Engagement for Staff: What’s in it for me?” is an online session for university leaders, academic teachers and administrative staff. The training explores practical ways universities can strengthen their social role. Whether you're just starting or looking to expand your efforts, this event provides tools and inspiration to help integrate engagement into your everyday academic or professional practice.

Discover the benefits and opportunities of engagement training designed specifically for university staff and academics. This introductory one-hour training is designed to empower university staff and academics to better understand the transformative potential of University–Community Engagement (UniCommEng) and its critical role in (re)shaping meaningful connections between academia and society. The training offers a guided exploration by situating UniCommEng within its broader conceptual, strategic, and policy landscape. We will trace its evolution, unpack key principles, and present a compelling case for embedding community engagement into the core academic missions of teaching, research, and institutional development. The session includes a clear classification of UniCommEng dimensions and practices, along with practical insights on how to incorporate these approaches into everyday academic and institutional work.

The meeting will be led by Prof. Bojana Ćulum Ilić, PhD, from the University of Rijeka. The short training will take place on June 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (CET). Registration is open until June 10.
