Millions for the Extension of the Biziel Hospital
The next phase of the extension of the Dr. Jan Biziel University Hospital No. 2 in Bydgoszcz will cost nearly 211 million zlotys. The contract for the design and construction of the project was signed by NCU Rector prof. dr habil. Andrzej Tretyn, Vice Rector for Collegium Medicum prof. dr habil. Dariusz Grzanka, and Mariusz Hurylski, Branch Director of BUDIMEX S.A.
Diseases of the Hematopoietic System, the Department of Phoniatrics and Audiology with the Division of Otolaryngology and Laryngological Oncology (including a Subdivision of Maxillofacial Surgery), the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, an Operating Suite with 11 operating rooms (including two hybrid operating rooms), the Clinical Rehabilitation Ward, the Sterilization and Disinfection Department, the Hospital Archives, as well as an auditorium and classrooms for students of the Nicolaus Copernicus University Collegium Medicum. The building will accommodate 144 hospital beds, and its total area will be nearly 18,400 square meters.

The contractor will also renovate part of the existing clinic building to connect it to the new building. One of the key elements of the contract is an elevated helipad for the Air Emergency Medical Service. Its construction will streamline the transport of patients requiring urgent medical care. Budimex is scheduled to complete the work by March 20th, 2028.

The completion of this project will create the conditions for the further development of highly specialized medical care, improve the organization of healthcare services, and enhance patient safety and comfort. The modern infrastructure will also support student education and teaching activities, serving as an important element in the development of NCU Collegium Medicum.
The project is part of the “Multi-Year Medical Program" worth 426.3 million PLN, scheduled for implementation from 2018 to 2028. The development of the hospital's infrastructure is made possible primarily thanks to significant financial support from the Ministry of Health, which plans to allocate 396.7 million PLN to the program. An additional 26.5 million PLN comes from the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Program, while 3 million PLN comes from the University's own funds.
