With the sunny weather returns the YUFE Academy – a series of open lectures held at the partner universities of the alliance. This edition will feature not only online and on-site meetings but also a pan-European discussion on key skills and an international panel on trust in the judiciary across member states.

A total of 14 events are planned. The first in the series will take place at the University of Bremen on May 9, during the celebrations of Europe Day, and will focus on the well-being of the international student community. In the following weeks, topics will include disinformation, multilingualism in research, artificial intelligence, as well as cooking and memes.

For the first time, a hybrid event will be hosted simultaneously by four partner universities – the University of Essex, Maastricht University, the University of Eastern Finland (UEF), and Nicolaus Copernicus University (UMK). On May 22 at 3:00 PM, Prof. Heidi Hyytinen from UEF will deliver a lecture on Skills of Critical Thinking. Afterwards, participants at different locations (as well as online) will engage in a discussion on the topic, including in local languages, concluding with a shared exchange of insights. By providing a platform for international debates, the organizers aim to fully leverage the potential of alliance membership. The event at NCU will be held at the Copernican Integration Centre.

On May 23 at 10:00 AM, marking Justice Day, experts from various YUFE universities will connect to discuss public trust in the judiciary within member states. The discussion will be moderated by Prof. Maciej Serowaniec, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration at NCU, and one of the guests will be Bartosz Pilitowski, President of the Court Watch Poland Foundation.

This edition will also feature a lecture in Polish: "Artificial Intelligence, Ageing, and the Society of Imagination – Why Dementia Doesn't Have to Be a Sentence," delivered by Dr. Tomasz Komendziński from the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences at NCU. The virtual meeting will begin at 12:00 PM on May 28.

Registration is required for all events and is available through the YUFE Virtual Campus.
The full programme and detailed information can be found at yufe.eu/academy.

YUFE is one of 65 consortia selected by the European Commission to build and test the model of the European University – an open, inclusive institution integrating diverse communities and promoting innovation, interdisciplinarity, and excellence in research and education. YUFE consists of ten dynamic, young, student-centered research universities (with a total of over 190,000 students and over 32,000 staff members) and two non-academic partners focused on higher education, the labour market, and entrepreneurship.
YUFE members collaborate to promote their educational programs, develop mechanisms to facilitate student and staff mobility, and create a model of borderless higher education that remains rooted in local contexts, responsive to societal and labour market changes.
YUFE strives to strengthen the idea of lifelong learning and to emphasize the value of multiculturalism, multilingualism, and European integration.
