The YUFE Student Intellectual Property and Standardization Law Help Desk has opened an information point at the Marshal's Office on Franciszkańska 12 Street in Toruń. Until 17 December 17 2024, students will be available every Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, offering free consultations on intellectual property law to residents.

The project was initiated by Justyna Sobecka, PhD, a patent advocate and guidance counselor of the help desk, who has been instrumental in helping students develop their expertise in intellectual property law.

We are very excited to be able to share our specialised knowledge in intellectual property protection and promotion - says Mikołaj Wiśniewski, a law student actively involved in the project. - This initiative allows us to apply what we have learnt in a practical setting while giving back to the local community.

In addition to its educational goals, the project enables participants to develop essential interpersonal skills, such as collaboration and building relationships based on trust.

The information point is open to the public, providing free consultations and advice until 17 December.

The Intellectual Property and Standardization Law Help Desk was established at Nicolaus Copernicus University (NCU) as part of the YUFE project. It specialises in intellectual property law, including copyright and industrial property rights. The services include patent searches in publicly accessible databases and access to selected standards on-site. All consultations are free of charge and conducted professionally, with the option of anonymity.

The YUFE Help Desk Network at NCU was established in 2021 to strengthen the university's connections with the wider community. Students working under the guidance of academic staff use their university-acquired knowledge to assist the public by answering questions, providing training, and offering free advice and professional support. All inquiries are treated confidentially, and those seeking help can remain anonymous.
