YUFE speaks your language!
Multilingualism is key to a truly diverse and inclusive European University. That is why YUFE, while aspiring to become one of the first, will enrich its offer with various initiatives held in different languages.
Europe is known for many languages and cultural diversity. That is why at YUFE we believe that multiple language skills are crucial to increase opportunities for both professional and personal development and employment. Multilingualism was always the fundamental foundation. Now we are happy to announce that this key principle can finally be put into practice.
The courses for the upcoming academic year will be offered in many European languages. But that's not all! This year's edition of the YUFE Academy will include lectures in different languages, and as before, will be open for all those interested in taking part.
Languages in YUFE
The main language of instruction within YUFE's Open Programmes is English. Yet all YUFE students and staff are also encouraged to learn foreign languages. A wide variety of language courses offered in the YUFE Student Journey already gives a great opportunity for this. Regular activities and events improve these skills which can be practiced during both academic contexts and social interactions such as language cafes. For the academic year 21/22, academic courses will be offered in Spanish, Croatian, German, Dutch, Italian, Finnish, French, Polish, Greek, and English. In total YUFE will be offering more than 400 academic courses in the next academic year, with over 65 academic courses offered in a non-English language. These YUFE academic courses together with more than 60 YUFE specifically language learning courses provide a rich and diverse YUFE Open Programme.
Citizens' well-being – YUFE Academy new theme
Within the current academic year, we were focusing on European identity and responsibilities in a global world. This subject was a great foundation for many wonderful lessons. In the upcoming semester, the theme Citizens' well-being will be added to broaden the offer. These two topics will therefore be central to the range of courses that YUFE will present, giving many opportunities to create a positive impact on our societies. Language barriers obviously exist, especially as YUFE involves staff students and citizens from different parts of Europe, and that is precisely why we are striving for the multilingual approach. This is the only way to provide easy access to our initiatives among local communities, and therefore truly make a step into implementing well-being policy.
Our model of a European University constantly continues to improve – giving its members so many chances to evolve and grow with it. It is also rewarding and pleasing to see learners seizing the opportunities from a wide range of courses to develop and increase knowledge about different subject areas.
