Music and the Cosmos
This year's University Day concert will be full of cosmic references. On February 18th, just a day before the 550th birthday of Nicolaus Copernicus, the Toruń Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Lithuanian maestro Dainius Pavilionis will perform in the NCU Aula.
The concert will feature the following compositions: R. Strauss – Thus Spake Zarathustra, Op. 30, I Introduction: Sunrise; L. van Beethoven arr. J. Kowalewski - Moonlight Sonata; A. Wesołowski - Composition for the 550th anniversary of the birth of Nicolaus Copernicus; G. Holst – The Planets, Op. 32.
The concert will begin at 6:00 pm on February 18 at the NCU Aula at 11 Gagarina 11 in Toruń.
NCU employees, retirees and pensioners who wish to attend the event can pick up free invitations at the NCU Department of Social Services (4th floor of the Rector's Office, room 416). Each person can receive two invitations.

Around the world's most famous scientific book
The celebration of the 550th anniversary of Nicolaus Copernicus' birth will be accompanied by the exhibition "Of all books the most worthy of reading.... Around De revolutionibus," co-organized by the University Library.
The exhibition, which will be housed in the interiors of the Old Town Hall in Toruń, will consist of the oldest editions of Copernicus' work De revolutionibus..., including the first two Nuremberg editions of 1543. In addition, a large number of very valuable incunabula and old prints will be presented, illustrating the context in which the astronomer's life work De revolutionibus orbium coelestium was created, as well as a rich selection of various 20th century editions of the world's most famous scientific book. The entire exhibition will close with a rich display of prints presenting Copernican iconography.
The exhibition will be presented in the courtyard and in the representative rooms of Toruń's Old Town Hall from February 19 - for guests of the World Copernican Congress, and for the general public from February 22 to May 7, 2023. The NCU Scientific Publishing House has prepared a catalogue "Of all books the most worthy of reading... Around the De revolutionibus of Nicolaus Copernicus" (Toruń 2023).
The exhibition is a co-organised by the Toruń Regional Museum, the University Library, the Copernicus Library in Toruń, and the National Archives in Toruń.
General and inorganic chemistry - lecture
The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the NCU Collegium Medicum invites all concerned to attend in the lecture General and inorganic chemistry - what pharmacy and laboratory medicine students should know - distinguished facts with a new approach.
The lecture is organized as a part of the Erasmus+ Programme, which will be conducted by Dr. Jona Keri from Adlent University (Tirana, Albiania). The event will take place on February 21st at 4:45pm in class B209 (Pathomorphology Diagnostic Building, 9 Curie Skłodowskiej Street).
Art of Nature. Nature of Art
The Faculty of Fine Arts invites all to the exhibition summarizing the project "Art of Nature. Nature of Art vol. 2" made by dr. Piotr Florianowicz from the Department of Graphic Design.
"Art of Nature. Nature of Art vol. 2" is a nationwide educational and cultural project based on creative workshops activating children, youth and students. The author of the project is dr. Piotr Florianowicz, and the organizer is the Amicus Foundation Universitatis Nicolai Copernici.
The exhibition will be presented in Gallery 34 at the Food Industry School Complex and VIII High School in Toruń, 33/35 Grunwaldzka Street, until 28th February 2023.
