Evaluation survey
Until September 30, students at Nicolaus Copernicus University can complete course evaluation surveys in the USOS system. The results of these surveys help improve the educational process at NCU.
The survey involves completing questionnaires, which will be available after logging into your USOS account or in the app. The collected results help lecturers improve their work and enable the administration of individual faculties to enhance the educational process.
Thanks to the surveys, students can express their opinions about classes not only by a rating scale. The questionnaire also allows them to post additional comments. The person completing the survey decides whether to keep the comment visible to the lecturer. Hidden comments will be sent directly to the deans of the faculties. This option should be used primarily when no other form of reporting problems is available. Open comments will also be visible to lecturers – this is an opportunity to let them know that their work is appreciated and to remind them of what was particularly important during the teaching process. The entire survey, whether comments are open or closed, is anonymous.
It is worth noting that a new, updated version of the application is now available in Google Play or the App Store under the name “Mobilny USOS 2.0". After launching it, a list of universities will appear, from which you should select Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and log in via the Central Authentication Service.
Completing the surveys takes only a few minutes. The course evaluation questionnaires will remain open until September 30, 2026.
Adapciak Camp 2026
The NCUStudent Government invites prospective students to join us for a training and team-building trip. This year, Adapciak Camp will take place at the end of August and beginning of September in Warzenko, Kashubia.
This summer, NCU Adapciak Camp will run from August 30 to September 3. It’s a great start to student life and a unique opportunity to meet people from various fields of study. The camp combines fun with the opportunity to gain practical knowledge about the structure of Nicolaus Copernicus University and student life. This year’s program will feature training sessions and meetings with representatives of the Student Government, as well as many team-building games and interesting themed events.
Space is limited, and spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost of the trip (950 PLN) covers transportation, full board, lodging, and activities.

The Future of European Education – Conference
On Tuesday 22 September 2026, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń will host a conference entitled ‘Quality Label – the Joint European Diploma. From concept to diploma: practice, challenges, academic future’. The event is organised by the Foundation for the Development of the Education System.
The priorities of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU have clearly demonstrated that the future of the European education area depends on cooperation between higher education institutions within networks, the removal of legal barriers and the improvement of the quality of education. Key tools for realising this vision are the Joint European Degree and the associated European Degree Label – initiatives of the European Commission that set out the direction for the internationalisation of higher education.
During the conference in Toruń, participants will examine the criteria, benefits and legal and organisational challenges associated with the creation of joint study programmes; therefore, those involved in the internationalisation and development of their universities’ academic programmes are particularly invited to attend.
The conference will take place on 22 September from 10.00 to 16.45 at the Institute of Psychology (39 Gagarina Street, Room 101). Registration is required.
The NCU Year of Science Popularisation – a day with AI
Following the summer break, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń invites you to further events organised as part of the Year of Science Popularisation at NCU. On Wednesday 23 September, at the Collegium Maximum, we will be discussing artificial intelligence.
The event will begin with a debate on how artificial intelligence is changing our everyday lives. Although it may seem that we use it in a controlled manner, in reality it is with us from morning till night – it suggests what to listen to and what to watch, selects the content we see on social media, helps us plan our journeys, and even supports our shopping, studying and work. It is also increasingly involved in helping us make much more serious decisions. But are we always aware of how it influences our choices?
The event will be chaired by Dr Jagoda Jaskulska from the Faculty of Law and Administration at Nicolaus Copernicus University (NCU), and the meeting will also feature guests from NCU's Interdisciplinary Centre for the Study of Technology in Society. It begins at 5.00 pm.
The debate will not mark the end of the day’s discussions on artificial intelligence. At 6.30 pm, Piotr Jarczyk, president of the Lucid Academy Foundation, will take the floor to deliver a lecture entitled ‘Alignment – the most important word you don’t know’. The speaker will point out that in discussions about artificial intelligence, the question of whether AI makes mistakes often arises. We rarely consider what happens when it is right, yet still does something other than what we intended. This second issue is currently occupying the world’s leading researchers and has yet to be resolved. It does, however, have a name: a single English word that we will not hear in the media, though it may determine how this story ends.
This lecture will not be yet another discussion of the threat we perceive in a machine uprising. It will address something far more difficult to imagine and far closer to home: a boundary that is obvious to us, but which for the system is simply another obstacle.
Admission to the event is free. Both sessions will also be streamed live on the UMK TV channel on YouTube.

Conference in Würzburg: ‘Borders’
“A border is a sociological phenomenon that takes shape spatially.” Historical practices and cultural dynamics in the demarcation of borders (up to 1939) – this is the title of the conference being organised by the Polish Historical Mission in Würzburg on 24–25 September.
The conference is cross-period, interdisciplinary and international in nature. Participants will examine the topic of borders from various perspectives, drawing primarily on research trends of recent years which view borders not only as negative barriers, but also as a starting point for new forms of (creative) exchange and cooperation. The analysis will cover not only territorial borders, but also, for example, borders between ethnic or national groups – such as the historical intermingling of Slavic populations in German regions or German populations in Polish territories, and its long-term cultural consequences. The conference’s timeframe covers the processes and practices of demarcating borders from the early Middle Ages to 1939.
