Chinese Ambassador Visits the University
Academic cooperation, student exchange and the development of Chinese language teaching were discussed during the visit of H.E. Lu Shan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Poland, to the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. The meeting also provided an opportunity to talk to students interested in Chinese culture and language.
The Nicolaus Copernicus University is developing its cooperation with Chinese academic partners. The university currently has 10 bilateral agreements with several institutions in China, and the Centre for Chinese Language and Culture conducts teaching and research activities in the field of Sinology and coordinates the university's cooperation with its partners.
During his visit to the Nicolaus Copernicus University, H.E. Lu Shan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Poland, met with representatives of the university's administration and academic staff.

During the meeting, the participants discussed issues relating to the presence of Chinese students at the Nicolaus Copernicus University, who are primarily studying Polish as a foreign language. The discussions also covered student exchanges between Poland and China and the further development of academic cooperation.
The Ambassador was also briefed on the current situation and plans regarding the teaching of Chinese at the Nicolaus Copernicus University. The possibilities for expanding joint translation and publishing activities were also discussed.
The next item on the agenda was a meeting with students studying Far East culture and Chinese. The Ambassador gave a lecture on the green transition in China. Following the talk, a discussion took place in Chinese, during which the diplomat answered questions on topics including visa-free travel, cooperation with Polish museums and travel.
The guest also listened to the students' accounts of their time in China and learned about the activities of the East Asian Culture Research Society. The meeting provided an opportunity for a direct exchange of experiences and a discussion on the growing importance of intercultural and academic cooperation between Poland and China.
