Copernicus changed humanity's perspective from a geocentric view to a broader view of the cosmos, said Prof. Tretyn. Today, in the face of global challenges such as artificial intelligence, precision medicine and ageing societies, medical education itself requires a new “Copernican revolution"; broadening our interests from hospital wards to the community, and from individual health to global public health. Guilin Medical University has gained deep expertise in areas such as the prevention and control of subtropical diseases, research on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and natural products, respiratory medicine, and digestive diseases. The Nicolaus Copernicus University excels in oncology, geriatrics and cutting-edge biotechnology. Our universities are therefore ideally positioned to leverage our complementary strengths and collaborate synergistically to introduce new paradigms in medical education and research".
Guilin Medical University is a leading university in the region, educating a total of approximately 30,000 students.
