In the Baltic Cooperation Network
The Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń has joined the Baltic University Programme (BUP), one of the largest international academic networks.
The Baltic University Programme is an organisation with more than 30 years of tradition. It currently brings together 115 partner universities from 10 countries in the Baltic Sea Region: the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Sweden, Ukraine and Poland.
The BUP is coordinated by Uppsala University supported by three regional secretariats. One of them is located at the Lodz University of Technology.
The activities undertaken by the network partners focus on issues of sustainability, environmental protection and democracy in the Baltic Sea Region and are implemented under the following thematic blocks: climate change, energy systems, sustainable societies, sustainable water resources, rural area development, sustainable mobility, closed loop economy, sustainable tourism, education for sustainable development and sustainable food systems.
The NCU's presence in the Baltic University Programme opens up new opportunities for cooperation not only for researchers and teachers, but also for students and doctoral candidates. Conferences, trainings and networking events organised by the BUP enable member institutions to establish scientific cooperation, find partners for joint projects and exchange experiences. For students, there is an annual conference, summer school and Master Thesis Training (MTT), an event that gives them the opportunity to receive additional expert supervision for their thesis and to network with students from across the Baltic Sea region.
The chief coordinator of the BUP at the NCU is mgr Joanna Wójcik from the Department of International Partnerships and Educational Mobility, who works closely with the faculty coordinators.
