Korean pianist Hyunjin Roh, winner of the 13th International I.J. Paderewski Piano Competition, will be the star of this year's concert celebrating the University's anniversary. Invitations for the Nicolaus Copernicus University community are now available at the Rector's Office.

This year's concert, entitled 'Classical Hit List', will begin on 18 February at 6 p.m. in the NCU Main Auditorium. Performers will include Hyunjin Roh (piano) and the Toruń Symphony Orchestra conducted by Dainius Pavilionis. The concert will be hosted by Urszula Guźlecka.

The first part will feature:

• A. Vivaldi – The Four Seasons, Part III: The Storm
• W. A. Mozart – Symphony No. 40 in G minor, KV 550, Part I
• W. A. Mozart – Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major, K. 488

The second part of the evening will feature:

• L. van Beethoven – Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67, Part I
• J. Brahms – Hungarian Dance No. 5 in F sharp minor
• G. Bizet – Overture to the opera Carmen
• Dvořák – Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95, From the New World, Part IV
• J. Strauss – Polka Thunder and Lightning
• W. Kilar – Waltz from the Polish film Trędowata

Hyunjin Roh – Korean pianist, born in 2001. She graduated from Seoul National University and is currently studying at the New England Conservatory in Boston. She won second prize at the Borderland Chopin International Competition in 2024 and first prize at the Joongang Music Concours, Ewha & Kyeonghyang Competition and Youngchang Piano Competition. She was a semi-finalist at the Hilton Head International Piano Competition in 2025 and the Leeds International Competition in 2021. She has performed at Kumho Art Hall, Jordan Hall and Williams Hall at the New England Conservatory, as well as at renowned venues in South Korea, such as Inchun Hall at the Seoul Arts Centre, Shinyoung Chamber Hall, Bucheon Art Centre and Lotte Concert Hall. She actively participates in concerts not only as a soloist, but also in various chamber performances, including piano trios and duets with string and wind instruments. In 2025, she swept the board at the 13th International I.J. Paderewski Piano Competition, winning the main prize, three special prizes (for the best performance of one of I.J. Paderewski's works; for the best performance of a piano concerto by W.A. Mozart; for the best recital in the semi-finals of the competition) and as many as 15 additional prizes, including the Special Prize of the Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
