Good Cooperation Lab
The Nicolaus Copernicus University and the Toruń City Lab are formalising their partnership. Among other things, they aim to jointly organise educational and social events and to develop student volunteering, which is a key element of education and the development of social skills.
The spring edition of the YUFE Academy provided an opportunity to forge links between the Nicolaus Copernicus University and the Toruń City Lab, featuring events aimed at NCU students and Staff, as well as the city's residents.
The cooperation agreement signed between the two institutions assigns a special role to WiedzoDzielnia (KnowledgeHub) – the Nicolaus Copernicus University Help Desks, which serve as a space for personal development for students whilst offering practical support to the community. “Joint activities will enable us to expand the scope of the advice help desks offer, and tailor their services even more closely to the needs of their customers," explains Aleksandra Śnieć from the NCU Department of International Partnerships and Educational Mobility, coordinator of WiedzoDzielnia.

The development of this initiative is no coincidence; it stems directly from the Nicolaus Copernicus University's role as leader of the Work Package 8 within the YUFE alliance," says Magdalena Stremplewska from the NCU Department of International Partnerships and Educational Mobility, the WP8 coordinator for YUFE. – This area focuses on building relationships with local stakeholders and strengthening the university's social engagement. Cooperation with organisations operating in the region is key to realising the vision of an open, responsible university that actively participates in social life.
For city institutions, collaborating with the Nicolaus Copernicus University and the YUFE initiative is a natural step towards building a youth-friendly city. – By combining the potential of the academic community with the Toruń City Lab's experience in social dialogue, civic education and skills development, we can create even more valuable initiatives for students and residents – adds Malwina Kostrzewska, coordinator of the Toruń City Lab. “We are particularly pleased to have the opportunity to develop volunteering, educational activities and projects that address the real needs of young people in Toruń. We believe that thanks to this collaboration, Toruń will become a place where young people not only acquire knowledge, but also have the space to act, have a say and bring their own ideas to life.".
The Toruń City Lab, which opened last year and is located at Bydgoska 52, is a space for open dialogue, collaboration and the joint search for innovative solutions to the challenges facing the city.
