More than 700 candidates from dozens of countries, including 128 people in the Erasmus+ programme, will begin their adventure at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. With them in mind, the Department of International Partnerships and Educational Mobility and the Department of Admissions and Student Affairs have prepared an Orientation Week.

Orientation Week is a cyclical event that provides a great start both for short-term students and those beginning full-time studies at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. The Department of International Partnerships and Educational Mobility and the Department of Admissions and Student Affairs have prepared a number of interesting events for them. This year's edition of international meetings began on 27 September and will last until 4 October.

The programme of the Orientation Week includes inspiring lectures, a Polish language course and intercultural workshops introducing the differences and aspects of cultures that foreigners may encounter during their stay,' explain the organisers of the event. - During the week-long meetings, students will gain practical knowledge about the functioning of the university, the rules of studying in Poland and life in Toruń. In addition, it is an excellent opportunity to integrate different, often diverse cultures.

In the winter semester, 128 students from 10 countries will be studying at the Nicolaus Copernicus University as part of the Erasmus+ programme. Among them are visitors from Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Ukraine, Turkey and even Iran. A total of 572 people from 46 countries have chosen to study full-time, including, for example, India, Iran, China, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Brazil and Ethiopia. There are also 174 students from Ukraine and 114 from Belarus.

Orientation Week began on Tuesday 27 September at the Academic Centre for Culture and Art 'Od Nowa'. The guests were welcomed by Prof. dr habil. Beata Przyborowska, Deputy Rector for Student Affairs, and the Prof. dr habil. Przemysław Nehring, Deputy Rector for Education, as well as representatives from the City of Toruń and the Marshal's Office of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. In the days to follow, students will be offered a wide range of activities ranging from a short Polish language course, intercultural and psychological workshops to integration training. All meetings will take place in small groups, allowing the participants to get to know each other better. Good orientation at the Toruń campus will be ensured by the Erasmus Student Network Toruń, who will show foreign guests around. At the very end, students will be able to get to know Toruń's Old Town complex with professional guides, courtesy of Toruń City Hall.

Orientation Week will close on 4 October with meetings with faculty coordinators for Erasmus+ mobility.

At the same time - from 27 September to 2 October - there is an adaptation course aimed at foreign students admitted to the first year of study, for a full cycle, conducted in Polish. The course will be attended by 60 people, mainly from the East, from countries such as Ukraine and Belarus, but there will also be participants from Brazil and Romania. During the course, students will learn about the formalities important to them in legalising their stay, get to know the university better, visit the campus and learn about the rules of operation in the city. The programme also includes a team-building meeting.

The event is accompanied by a photo and video competition 'Toruń through the eyes of a student', and the winner will receive an attractive package of university gifts.

The course is organised in collaboration with the Accepted Agency, which specialises in helping foreign candidates apply to study.
