The Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń has once again been included in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by subject – one of the most prestigious international rankings of higher education institutions. In the latest ranking, NCU was noted in seven areas.

THE World University Ranking is one of the three most respected and widely cited international university rankings, alongside the Academic Ranking of World Universities (the so-called Shanghai ranking) and the QS World University Rankings. In addition to the annual ranking of the world's best universities, the Times Higher Education also prepares more detailed rankings, including subject rankings. The methodology involves assessing universities in 11 subject areas, using 18 indicators in five main pillars: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook. This comprehensive picture of academic and research excellence allows prospective students to identify which universities are worth considering when choosing a field of study.

Each ranking takes into account subject areas that are assessed through the analysis of narrower disciplines, but this year's ranking does not include detailed results. The positions of individual universities can therefore be determined on the basis of a general category (e.g. social sciences), without the possibility of checking their level in individual disciplines (for social sciences, these are: media and communication studies, politics and international relations, sociology and geography).
