On June 23rd, the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń launched a new website. The revamped site, available in Polish and English, was designed with the needs of the academic community and anyone seeking information about the university in mind.

The new website is not just a redesign; above all, it is a modern and functional communication tool. The site is characterized by a clear structure, intuitive navigation, and features that make it easy to access key information about admissions, research, education, and academic life.

The new website features an extensive mega-menu, which clearly presents the content of the site's key sections and makes it easier to navigate the extensive information structure. This is complemented by a user-centric menu, which enables students, PhD students, staff, alumni and the university's partners to quickly access content tailored to their needs.

Navigation on the website is made easier by, amongst other things, two types of menu – thematic and user-oriented – and a system of related links

A system of related links will also make it easier to find your way around the website. This makes it easy to navigate to thematically related content in other parts of the site, allowing you to find the information you need more quickly and gain a better understanding of the University's programmes and activities. The search function serves a similar purpose, helping you find the content you're looking for more quickly.

We want the UMK website to be a functional and user-friendly tool, but also a showcase for a dynamic, ambitious university that looks boldly to the future. “This is an important step in building a modern, open and user-friendly digital environment for our university," says dr  habil. Joanna Kucharzewska, NCU Prof. and Vice-Rector for Promotion and Cooperation with Social and Business Environment.

Dobosz Studio is responsible for the website's graphic design. The new website was developed by joint teams from the University Centre for IT Services – Danuta Deka, Mariusz Kuskowski, Artur Sikora and Mikołaj Wlizło – and the Department of Promotion and Communication – Magdalena Janowska, Monika Gromadka and Piotr Nowacki. Prof. Joanna Kucharzewska provided  supervision over the process.

Work on the new website involved not only developing a new visual identity, but also organising and updating the content. As a result, the website will be easier to use, more intuitive and more user-friendly.

The launch of the new homepage is the first stage of a wider process of changes to the university's online presence. In subsequent stages, the Collegium Medicum website and the faculty websites will also be modernised.

The new website of Nicolaus Copernicus University is available at the university's existing web address www.umk.pl.
