Serenity in a friendly space
For those in need of a respite between classes, a break from the noise of information or an excess of stimuli, or those looking for a place to work in concentration - places of calm and relaxation have been created at the Nicolaus Copernicus University. Specially prepared rooms can be found in the faculties, in the University Library and in the Copernican Integration Centre.
Quiet spaces are specially designed spaces to reduce stress in a comfortable atmosphere. The rooms are open to the entire academic community and operate in the Copernican Integration Centre and several faculties:
- in the building at ul. Lwowska 1 (building A, 2nd floor, room 396);
- in the attic of the Faculty of Fine Arts building at ul. Sienkiewicza 30/32;
- in the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science;
- in the library of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management;
- in Collegium Humanisticum (3rd floor, connecting building AB and C);
- in the Faculty of Theology (1st floor, next to the auditorium);
- in the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Informatics.
You can also report the need for such a space in your faculty building to osrodek_wsparcia@umk.pl.
The University Library is also home to the Academic Relaxation Zone, a space to relax, study and work. The space was created for the academic community, primarily students. The Relaxation Zone is spread over two floors and has a total area of 400 square metres. Visitors have at their disposal approx. 80 places for working, relaxing, calming down and studying together or individually. The room has been furnished with sofas, armchairs and tables, as well as a TV with the option of connecting your own equipment via an HDMI socket. There is also a kitchenette with all the necessary equipment: sink, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and utensils..
The NCU Library's Academic Relaxation Zone also has a space for art - the Fine Arts Section, an exhibition space where the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń community can present its artistic activities, was established there. At present, the exhibition features the work of Katarzyna Kręcicka entitled 'The Playground. The curator of the exhibition is Martyna Majczuk, a student of painting and graduate of the history of art at the Faculty of Fine Arts.
