Strategically about the future of YUFE

Where is YUFE headed and what are its goals for the coming years? These were the most important topics discussed during the YUFE consortium's Annual Strategic Forum at Maastricht University.

At the annual meeting, which took place on March 4-6, Nicolaus Copernicus University was represented by: Dr. habil. Magdalena Barwiołek, NCU Prof., Vice-Rector for International Relations, Karol Mojkowski, institutional coordinator (WP1), and Magdalena Stremplewska, leader of the Community and Civic Engagement (WP8) team.

The forum regularly brings together project coordinators, work package leaders, and members of the consortium's Strategic Council and Executive Committee. This year's edition summarized YUFE's activities to date, discussed plans for the next two crucial years and extending Erasmus+ funding for the functioning of alliance, and the upcoming competition under the European Universities initiative. The meeting was held under the slogan Dreaming Europe forward. The inaugural lecture, entitled "Trinational cooperation: The Maastricht model," was given by Prof. Gideon Koekoek from the Institute of Gravitational Waves and Fundamental Physics at Maastricht University.

During the forum, awards were also presented for the best projects implemented within the YUFE network, including BIO YUFE and BIP English for Entrepreneurship, in which our University actively participates.

For NCU, remaining an active member of the European YUFE consortium is a strategic goal", assures Dr. habil. Magdalena Barwiołek, NCU Professor and Vice-Rector for International Relations. "The meeting was extremely inspiring and allowed for the exchange of experiences and ideas for the further development of the network."

Interestingly, part of the event took place at the historic Château Neercanne, the symbolic site of the signing of the Maastricht Treaty, which gave rise to the European Union.
