YUFE Academy: Skills of Critical Thinking
On May 22 at 3:00 pm, a meeting "Skills of Critical Thinking" will be held as part of the YUFE Academy series. The program, in addition to a discussion of critical thinking, will include a lecture on AI in dementia prevention, an international debate on trust in the judiciary, and the need to archive memes.
The meeting will be held at the Copernican Integration Centre (Olszewskiego 16 St.), but also at the University of Essex, Maastricht and Eastern Finland, as well as virtually. During the meeting, a lecture led by Prof. Heidi Hyytinen (UEF) will be broadcast, and then participants will take part in a discussion on critical thinking. After the workshop, everyone will reconnect with each other virtually and discuss their insights.
The meeting is organised as part of the YUFE Academy, a series of open lectures held at affiliated universities. The international discussion will take place thanks to the relationship NCU has established with partner universities forming the Young Universities for the Future of Europe alliance.

Cups of Talks: Books without borders
On May 22 at 4:30 pm, the Copernican Integration Centre invites you to an open meeting of the "Cups of Talks" series. The theme of the discussion in English will be "Books without borders".
During Cups of Talks, participants will dive into the world of literature. Anyone can bring a book written in their native language to read a short passage and present the sound of their mother tongue. Everyone will be able to talk about their literary discoveries and books that have significantly influenced their lives.
The discussion of genres, themes and moving stories of literary heroes will take place in a relaxed atmosphere outdoors by the Copernican Integration Centre (16 Olszewskiego Street) among friendly faces. The meeting is open to all interested parties, including those from outside the university community.

Mystery Friend: Mystery Scavenger Hunt
The Amicus Universitatis Nicolai Copernici Foundation and Nicolaus Copernicus University invite the UMK community and the citizens of Toruń to an integration workshop under the theme "Mystery Friend".
"Mystery Friend" is a series of monthly integration meetings. Each meeting is a new challenge and a chance to grow in an atmosphere of intercultural exchange and social education. The aim of the project is to integrate the entire academic community and citizens of Toruń. Several events have already taken place under the slogan "Mystery Friend", including workshops on painting mystery portraits, cooking together and creating bird feeders and birdhouses.
"Mystery Scavenger Hunt" - this is the theme of the meeting, which will be held on May 22 at 5:00 p.m. It will be an outdoor game on the university campus, during which participants will solve puzzles and follow clues to find hidden treasures and gadgets. This is an opportunity to explore the university campus in an unusual way and make new friends. Enrollment is accepted through the application form.

YUFE Academy: Can we trust courts?
"Can we trust courts?" - will be the topic of an international panel of experts and practitioners organised as part of the YUFE Academy series. The meeting will be held on May 23 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The discussion will be moderated by Prof. Maciej Serowaniec, dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration at NCU.
Can we trust the courts? What when we suspect bias in an institution that was supposed to be impartial? The crisis in the Polish judiciary has been talked about for years. It has been written about in the pages of newspapers, both in Poland as well as outside the country. And what kind of public trust do courts enjoy in Europe?
