Christmas traditions in an international community
Decorating ecological glass balls with their own hands, creating Christmas trees with origami and tasting Christmas delicacies made up the programme of the winter meeting organised for international students staying at the NCU as part of the Erasmus+ programme.
The Christmas meeting took place on 7 December. The participants of the winter workshop had the opportunity to make an ecological glass ball with their own hands and decorate it with a personalised message: a message or a drawing. The NCU Department for International Partnerships and Educational Mobility also prepared an origami workshop for them, during which they created Christmas trees from paper. The prepared ornaments serve as a festive decorative accent in the Copernican Integration Centre.
The meeting was also full of specialities traditionally found on the Christmas table. Particularly popular among the international guests were the pierogi (dumplings), vegetable salad and borscht.
There are currently 97 students of the Erasmus+ programme at the NCU campus in Toruń. The largest group is made up of people of Spanish and Turkish nationality; the university also hosts people from, among others: Chad, Azerbaijan, France, Greece, Thailand, Togo and Germany.
